Introduce yourself
My name is Chris Spath. I’m a 44 year old father of 3 children living in Gilbert AZ. Using the carnivore diet, I’ve lost 116 pounds and resolved every physical ailment that I had. I’m now in the best shape of my life.
How did you eat before carnivore?
Like a kid in a candy shop…and cake shop, and a fast food joint. I stress ate; I ate when I was sad. I ate when I was celebrating. All the carbs and fats together.
Why did you try carnivore to begin with?
I’ve always hated vegetables so after starting a keto diet, I found myself forcing down plants that I did not enjoy. Through research I found that they weren’t necessary so I immediately cut them out.
How do you personally approach the carnivore diet?
I keep it simple and from what I believe is an ancestral perspective. I wake up and once I get going I exercise (hunt), then I feast on a large meal of meats, mostly beef (about 2 pounds), then rest (fast). Repeat daily.
What benefits have you seen since starting the carnivore diet?
I’ve lost 116 pounds so the freedom that brings is immeasurable. I cured my type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, allergies and sleep apnoea. I was on lots of medications and now I take none. Improved energy and mental focus. I require less sleep.
What negatives have you found with the carnivore diet?
Other than not being able to enjoy some of those treats that got me sick, I’ve experienced no negatives from the diet itself.
Do you exercise on the carnivore diet, if so How do you find it and what do you do?
I do exercise and find that I have good motivation and energy to be consistent. My regimen consists of a daily morning simple muscle group exercises. Push, pull, raise and squat. 1 pyramid set to failure of each. Each afternoon I take a 1 hour walk in the sun.
What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.
Keep it simple. Eat the meat you enjoy and can afford. Salt it. Eat till full. Drink water when thirsty, not more. Lift heavy things daily.
Do you think carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet?
I am optimistic that in the long run, the results will over shadow the food industry propaganda. Similar to keto, which is now accepted.
Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow your journey?
Experimentation and consistency. Try different things until you find what works for you. Add fat. Try leaner. Try organs. Don’t like organs, don’t eat them. Find your zone and run with it.
