Interview with Natalie
1) How would you currently describe your current way of eating.
I follow a paleolithic ketogenic diet (PKD by Paleomedicina Hungary). It is a high fat and moderate protein animal-based diet. I eat nose-to-tail and consume organ meats on a regular basis. Eggs are now also part of my diet, as my system is able to tolerate them again. The main caloric lever comes from animal fat (beef suet, tallow, lard) and I feel the best and most satiated when eating the right amount of it (2:1 fat to protein ratio).
2) What have you learned regarding nutrition over the last year.
I have learned that there are a few crucial points in an individual’s nutrition that must be understood for one to succeed. First, in the beginning of a dietary change and a healing process it is important to reach for professional guidance to properly learn what to do. Many individuals instead turn to social media influences and other out of context advises.
Secondly, it is important to be patient and stay disciplined and not allow low motivation days derail the healing process. This way of eating is incredibly easy to understand and follow, but the mind can be ones worst enemy. After many years of listening to misleading information regarding wrong food choices or the necessity of taking supplements, it is only natural that it takes time re-educate one’s mind. Once on an animal-based diet, everything gets easier, the body and the mind will become stronger through proper nutrition and it will be much more natural.
3) What health & Fitness improvements, and/or setbacks have you experienced in the last year.
I have experienced great health and fitness improvements within the past year. The last time I answered your questions I was already feeling fantastic and thought I had reached my highest level of health but now I can definitely tell that my health has been constantly improving. At this point I wonder how I am going to feel in another year. I do not have any of the symptoms that originally brought me to this dietary approach; my energy level and mood are stable throughout the day. I am very active both mentally and physically and feeling stronger than ever.
4) What are your health and fitness goals in the year ahead.
I do not have any specific goals. I will definitely keep eating the way I have been for the past years and enjoy being healthy doing all the activities I love to do.
5) Anything else to add? and where can people follow your journey?
