Meat Up: 1 year with Kristel

I love doing the Carnivore Diet Success Stories, I find it very rewarding to share peoples progress. So I am going to try to catch up with people once a year to see how they are getting on.

Will they all still be Carnivore, probably not. However, I believe they will have an appreciation of the benefits of a meat-heavy diet and will use that knowledge as a tool to further their health.

1) How would you currently describe your current way of eating.

I eat an animal based diet with an emphasis on fat. I incorporate raw and cooked animal products. I love pork fat, Camembert cheese, eggs and fish roe. I love beef raw rather than cooked. Here and there I eat some starches and occasionally fruit. No vegetables. Most of the time I will have 2 meals a day, and do not snack. I only drink water and tea. And once in a blue moon on special occasions I will have some junk food. I don’t restrict anything, but I eat solely what I want. I really dislike pasta and pizza so I never opt for that, haha.

2) What have you learned regarding nutrition over the last year.

Food is not everything when it comes to health. Factors like your social life, habits, sleep, stress levels and activity levels play a huge role in it as well.

The state of your body is important factor to take into account when you are figuring out what foods are “good” or “bad” for you.

I do believe there is a right way to eat for humans, that takes into account the environment we live in, our constitution and our biological system. But it seems rather difficult nowadays to return to the right way of eating because there is so much misinformation and so many ways of eating out there that confuse us.

3) What health & Fitness improvements, and/or setbacks have you experienced in the last year.

I had a lot to recover from when I quit veganism.

I had stomach acids issues, gut issues, dealt with a parasite, hormonal issues, depression and stress. But I kept having faith that it would all be alright because since I incorporated animal products I had periods of time in where I felt better than I ever felt being a vegan.

Now after more than a year I finally feel normal again. Full of energy, active, strong both mentally and physically. My digestion is very strong, I never overeat anymore, I’m in a good mood and feel so excited about life. Also, I have never been happier with my body as I am now!

4) What are your health and fitness goals in the year ahead.

I don’t have any big goals. I am content with where I am at now. The things I will put more focus on is skin and hair health as I would like to restore them as much as I can. My plan is to walk a lot more, prioritise sleep, eat enough and not restrict, do more creative things like playing instruments, making fun YouTube videos and creating costumes.

5) Anything else to add? and where can people follow your journey?

I really can’t understand how I could have gone without meat, dairy and eggs for such a long time. I feel a lot better since I consume them again. You never know how bad you feel, until you experience feeling good again. I learned how important good quality meat, dairy and eggs are and I wouldn’t have know the depth of it if I didn’t exclude them. I will never go vegan ever again.
