Introduce Yourself.

Hi there! My name is Kels, I’m a 25-year-old corporate millennial living in Denver, CO. I’ve been partaking in the Carnivore WOE since May of 2019 and I’m never going back! (minus one or two cheat meals every couple weeks…that remind me why I eat this way in the first place. Hehe.)

How did you eat before Carnivore.

Before carnivore, I was a vegetarian from the age of 13-15, and then I was vegan from the age of 21-23. I decided to stop being vegan due to massive hormonal breakouts, one day I was thinking to myself “I’m craving fried chicken. I’m going to eat some god damned fried chicken.” and the next day after I ate some chicken, all of my breakouts were GONE. It was magical. Anyways. Needless to say, throughout my life, I typically wasn’t very big on meat and I was your typical junk foodie. I was always “skinny fat” as well, always bloated and never happy with the way my body looked under my clothes. But I loved me some wine, pizza, pasta…all of the sugar and carbs. Always wondered “Why do I feel so gross!?” LOL. 

Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I tried Carnivore to begin with initially because I wanted to lose weight and look good. My bloated self always wanted some freakin’ abs. I started following a lot of Keto Instagram accounts and took the Keto approach, to begin with, and while the weight really did start falling off, the Keto WOE always made me feel a little off-balanced. Almost like my insides weren’t very happy with me. Then I started seeing and following carnivore Instagram accounts and began reading up on how this more simplistic WOE could greatly benefit mental health as well as most all psychical ailments. Since I have suffered from heavy anxiety my whole life, I was intrigued! That and I have an extreme personality. So Carnivore was right up my alley. 

How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

I personally approach the Carnivore diet with tons of ground beef! I’m not rolling in money (yet) so I love the affordability of it. Trader Joes meat is my favorite. They have great organic and grass-fed options without breaking the bank. I’m a very routined type of person as well so every day is pretty much black coffee, lots of butter, ground beef, salt, and eggs. I’ll splurge on a grass-fed ribeye once a week. I do try to make sure all of my meat is grass-fed and my eggs free range, I think it just tastes better. I do LOVE fasting as well with sparkling water, salt, and electrolytes. I fast daily and go for OMAD. Recently though I’ve been diving down the “Primal Carnivore” WOE, meaning not cooking my meat. I’m a super newbie to it, so I’m still getting used to raw meat but so far it’s absolutely delicious and even more simplistic. Still trying to get my hands on some raw dairy out here in Denver!

What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

Oh man, the benefits. So many. My mental health has increased so much, I find that my brain is simply working more optimally with this WOE. I have no mental fog on the daily anymore, which has lead to a significant decrease in anxiety. I’m able to logically think through my thoughts, identify them as needed, and move on. Can’t do that when I ingest sugar/gluten, that’s for dang sure. I have lost about 35 pounds since May (when I started Carnivore) and I have kept that weight off. My skin has never been so unproblematic acne wise, and the tone of it has definitely changed. I’m way less pink and pasty now! I love how much money and mental energy I save around meal prepping. I just feel that I’m finally mentally and psychically how I’m meant to be as a human. That feeling is euphoric, slightly indescribable and priceless. If you know you know.

What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

The only negatives I’ve found are trying to balance a social life with this WOE. I still struggle to eat Carnivore when I’m out with non-carnivore friends. But that’s my problem, I know it can be done! 

Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

I do not exercise, simply because I haven’t yet found the need. Personally, I love the look of being toned and lean, and I have achieved that through my diet alone. My abs are extremely toned without doing sit-ups every day, and abs are my main goal! My arms look extremely defined as well, it’s weird. But I ain’t complaining! 

What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

I would suggest to start off with a steak. A delicious fatty grass-fed ribeye. Eat that alone, and identify how you feel the next morning. Boom. And if that hasn’t convinced you, follow carnivore Instagram pages. You can’t look at everyone’s transformations and NOT be motivated to try it out for yourself. It’s literally a cheat code on how to live an amazing life. This diet will positively affect ALL areas of your life my friend. It’s crazy!

Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

Nope! Not in today’s social climate. And that is fine. You can’t save the world, but you can save yourself. Start with yourself. ….most people don’t even start there….ever……
