Interview with Jessica

1) Introduce Yourself.
Hey! It’s Jessica. I’m a proud Marylander living in Georgia. I am a licensed Master Cosmetologist, but I mostly enjoy cooking and being with my dogs! I’ve lived in 5 states, and I believe my travels have opened my mind.
2) How did you eat before Carnivore.
Well, I had been doing keto for about 6 months before I switched to carnivore. However, before keto, I was AWFUL. I drank at least 2 20oz bottles of Coca Cola daily. Pasta, bread, and sugar were my favorites. Working at the salon makes it slightly difficult, because we keep the fridge stocked with cokes and sweets – my two main vices.
3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.
I had already seen amazing weight loss results with keto, but the sweets addiction didn’t really go away. All of the keto treats and fat bombs, I felt, were hindering progress. I also still had back pain, after I’d sprained my back about 2 years ago, that never went away. And the last main reason, I have plantar fasciitis and I really wanted to see if I could heal myself. Diabetes runs in my family so I am trying to prevent that as well.
4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.
With low stress. I’m not obsessed with tracking or anything, although I did track in the beginning. I try not to think, “damn, all I can eat is this…?” Because that’s where the limiting feeling comes in. I replace with, “yes, I’m excited I get to fuel my body with this.” I am not a purist, I use spices and seasonings, and I definitely still use keto ingredients sometimes. Social life sometimes revolves around food, so I make sure I’m prepared and do what I can to avoid caving in.
5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.
I can work out barefoot without worrying about hurting my feet. My back pain is virtually gone, which I never thought would happen. My hair is growing about an inch a month, which is double the average rate of hair growth! My skin is clear and supple, I don’t even need to moisturise at all. My favourite benefit, and this may sound awful, is knowing that I can go to work all day long, eat my meat, and not have any bloating or discomfort. My mindset is a lot more relaxed and the brain fog has seemed to lift as well!
6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.
Not giving into cravings is hard. I don’t know if this is an issue with carnivore, or just me. I can be fine for days but then I “relapse” and I still haven’t found a great way to truly heal this sugar addiction. My other negative is all the waiters/waitresses trying so hard to give me sides and salads when I repeatedly tell them no. Seems silly, but super annoying. Also, having to pay for said side items even when you asked to not have them. 🤯
7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.
At first, I did not. Fitness is another feat I’m slowly working on. I started working out regularly in April. I find my endurance to be much higher, and I don’t really get sore the next day either. I currently do weight lifting 4-5 times a week, with 3 days specifically focused on glute training.
8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.
You can still eat cheese! 🤣 If you have an ailment, hop onto meatheals.com and read the testimonials regarding that ailment. Do your research! Find non-biased resources. Follow people on Instagram who provide info regarding this lifestyle. And last but not least, please don’t try it for 3 days and then give up saying it’s not working. A lot of people don’t see true healing until about 1-3 months in, if not even later than that.
9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.
I’d like to think so. It was “mainstream” for millions of years, before being mainstream was cool. I think there are so many people, now, finding true healing, that it’s going to start becoming hard to deny the facts. I just hope it doesn’t become a situation where eating meat is a constitutional debate… because that seems to be the direction that mainstream media is heading. 🤦🏼♀️

Keep moving forward!! Remember that every day is a chance to right your life. To live your life the way you want! Carnivore is an amazing lifestyle, that allows the mobility, mental, and physical freedom to live life as we were meant to. Happily!
