World Carnivore Month 2021 – Lyme Disease – Day 7

Lyme Disease

What is Lyme Disease

Lyme disease can be a really nasty disease. It is a bacterial infection, that can be passed on from ticks to humans. Damn you ticks!!! They are always spoiling a good walk.

What are the symptoms of Lyme Disease

They are wide ranging and can come and go. The most noticable is a large red circular rash around where you have been biten. This can appear months after you have actually been bitten which is annoying.

Other usual symptoms are fever like temperatures, headaches, migraines, fatigue, and muscle & joint pain.

How many people have Lyme Disease

Around 30000 people get sick from Lyme disease per year in USA, but because the symptoms can be very mild or put down to other things. It is estimated it is actually 10 times that figure.

I live in the UK, and Lyme Disease infected ticks can be a problem in the South and in the Highlands of Scotland. But it is not a huge problem where I live, there are ticks where I live as my dogs can confirm but it is unlikely they will spread Lyme Disease.

How do you treat Lyme Disease

Basically the quicker you can get treatment the better.

If you notice a tick on you, then remove it safely with a tick tool and dispose of it. Then seek medical advice, in which you will likely be given a course of antibiotics.

For most people if it is caught early this will cure it. However, some people suffere from Lyme Disease symptons for the rest of their lives. There is not a lot of information on why this may be the case.

I have yet to see any mainstream advice on if and when diet, could help or hinder your recovery from Lyme Disease.

Carnivore Diet vs Lyme Disease

I have a few carnivore diet success stories where people have said they have noticeably improved and reversed their persistent Lyme Disease symptoms with the Carnivore Diet.

Probably the biggest success story on this matter is Charlene Anderson, who along with her family have been eating only Ribeye steaks for over 20 years.

And far from being nutrient deficient wrecks, they look like Greek Gods and Goddesses.

If you have helped manage your Lyme Disease through the Carnivore Diet, then please let me know.

Here are the carnivore diet success stories I have on my blog relating to Lyme Disease: https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/lyme-disease/

Christine “From the first week I was less tired and had less joint pain. A big relief because pain everyday, starts to make you so damn tired. My migraines never came back and after stopping eating greens and vegetables my intestinal pains were gone as well. Both things I had from birth. I had a lot of issues because of lyme disease and was nearly at a point I couldn’t walk anymore. I couldn’t lift things and even brushing my teeth became painful. In a few weeks after I started carnivore I felt better and after a couple of months I got even more energy back. I had no trouble sleeping, no joint pains, no migraines and no eczema. My muscles got stronger. After I started taking supplements from Ancestral like the bone marrow and the liver I was not only the old me again, but even better then the old me. I struggle eating head to toe that’s why I use the supplements.”

Rebekah “I am an overcomer of over ten autoimmune diseases, chronic lyme disease, chronic c-diff, multiple mood disorders, IBS, IBD, diverticulitis, and more.”

Maria Emmerich “I notice an increase in energy or really a more consistent energy. I was already keto for almost 20 years prior to carnivore so I was already used to better mental clarity, increased energy, etc. So this was like one notch better. Going keto took me from a 3 to a 9. Carnivore took it to a 10 (or 11, LOL). Craig has seen amazing results with the reduction in pain he has from Lyme. When he stick to strict carnivore his migrating pain in his joints is completely gone. We also see some really amazing results with clients, especially those with skin issues. They have psoriasis or eczema that they have struggled with for years and within days it is gone. Also huge improvements in brain health like bipolar disease, depression and other issues.”

Carnivore Diet success stories – with Christine

Interview with Christine

1)     Introduce Yourself.

Hii there, my name is Christine Postma from Holland. I live in a small village with a lot of water nearby. I love the water and I’m totally in love with mountains. Music is the best there is and my big passion are cars…

2) How did you eat before Carnivore.

Before Carnivore I ate keto for a few months and before that plant based.

3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I started eating Keto because I was sick for a long time. Lyme disease. Nothing worked and I tried it all, even ate plant based for more than a year. After I read about a women who healed from rheumatism by eating the keto way I wanted to know more about it and started to really understand the damage of sugars and wanted to give it a try. It was my last hope… Keto worked for a lot of things from week one and I could not be happier. But because I already ate a lot of meat with greens the step to carnivore was an easy and logical step for me. I wasn’t the baking type and really wanted to get healthy from real foods. Someone pointed carnivore out to me and I started searching for everything I could find.

4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

After about 2 years I can read my body and feel exactly what’s best for my body and what my body needs. I eat mostly beef, grassfed beef. Ribeyes, striploin and ground beef or sausages mixed with liver. I season them with salt and some pepper. I eat it raw or rare. Occasionally some fish like herring, ale or salmon. But that’s a side dish once a week, my main meal is beef. Mostly with butter because I feel best on high fat.

Mostly I eat one meal a day, about 500/600 grams of meat with about 40 grams of butter but if I want to eat two meals I mostly eat about 3-4 eggs with bacon. Occasionally I will eat some Greek yoghurt, cheese or other dairy products but not every day.

I do drink coffee, I am a coffee lover… Mornings I have my bulletproof coffee and after dinner I treat myself with a coffee with some heavy whipped cream… But one day I’m gonna try to see how I feel if I don’t drink coffee, but that moment is not here yet.

5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

From the first week I was less tired and had less joint pain. I struggle eating head to toe that’s why I use the supplements.

6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

Lately I’m having a really dry skin, dry hair and hair loss and that’s bothering me a lot. So since this week I also started taking collagen from grass fed cows.

7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

No I didn’t. In the beginning they warned me. First heal your body fully and then work out or exercise again. First I couldn’t wait, I wanted to lift those weights again… But I waited… But actually I don’t need it, I don’t feel the need anymore.

8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

Please try it, it will change your live for the better. I wish I started this way of eating years ago and I’m sure I would have never got sick in the first place if I did. So please try it, but not for a week, at least try it for a month and longer is even better.

Try what feels best, there are a lot of ways eating this way..

9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

I’m not sure, eating good meat here in Holland is more and more a thing. But trying to explain to people you only live on animal meat and don’t need anything next to it is hard to believe. Right now the vegan people are getting more popular because people still think you need vegetables and fruit because it’s healthy. But for me, that was the first thing that was making me ill. Eating plant based even made everything worse and almost broke my body.

10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow you.

Meat healed my body and gave me back my live.

I post daily on my Instagram (mountain_keto_carnivore) pictures of everything I eat. I like to make pretty pictures especially from my coffee. I don’t post updates about how I’m feeling or what I went though. There are so much interesting people there who have the best advice and knowledge. But if people DM me or just ask me I will always tell my story and try to help where I can. It’s that help from others that has helped and taught me so much. I couldn’t have done it without their help so I’m so grateful I can’t explain in words.

I’m still learning and trying things out to see how my body reacts.

Carnivore Diet success stories – with Rebekah

Interview with Rebekah

Introduce Yourself

Hello! My name is Rebekah farmer. I am an overcomer of over ten autoimmune diseases, chronic lyme disease, chronic c-diff, multiple mood disorders, IBS, IBD, diverticulitis, and more. I love nature, holistic medicine, music, and elephants 🙂 …

How did you eat before Carnivore

Paleo, then keto for over 15 years. I’ve never eaten the standard American diet.

Why did you try Carnivore to begin with

Danny Vega introduced me to the idea when I was suffering with autoimmune disease. It took me a long time to actually try it. I was in my third emergency room in a row, 70 lb at 5-6 and desperate to gain weight. They said I would have to remove my colon and be hooked up to a feeding tube. That’s why I decided to go full carnivore.

How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet

This way of eating looks different for each person and it needs to sue our bio individual needs. I prefer variety and options within the healthy boundaries that keep me healing, supported. I don’t think that a diet is helpful unless it is sustainable. This is food freedom. I approached it with my newfound intuition and understanding that is gained with leptin sensitivity and systemic healing.

What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet

I have my life back! I don’t have pain, I can think clearly and I have energy. My sleep is wonderful, and I am so strong! Mentally resilient, no cravings, so grateful. I have also reversed scleroderma which is pretty amazing!

photoshake_1594047812677

What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet

They should really make chest freezers with better shelving.

Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do

I lift heavy and only do cardio for pleasure like light walks in the morning and evening. I do it because it feels amazing and I love being strong and getting stronger.

What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet

Take everyone’s advice with a grain of salt. There is no one diet that works perfectly for everyone. You are different from everyone else. Find a coach if you need extra support. Trust and appreciate the process.

Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet

Yes

Carnivore Diet success stories – with Maria Emmerich

Interview with Maria

Introduce Yourself.

My name is Maria Emmerich. I am an international best selling author and nutritionist. I struggled with my health and weight throughout childhood which lead me to become such a passionate nutrition expert. I specialize in brain neurotransmitters and how food can increase mental wellness. My expertise has sent me around the World speaking about ketogenic diets.

I am also an International Best Selling author of over 14 books including “Quick and Easy Ketogenic Cooking” and “Keto: The Complete Guide to Success on The Ketogenic Diet”. My books and recipes have been featured by Halle Berry, Al Roker on the Today Show, Valerie Bertinelli and others.

I also run a support site for members here:

keto-adapted.com

How did you eat before Carnivore.

I have been eating a ketogenic diet for almost 20 years. In the last 8-10 years it has been close to carnivore already with a focus on animal proteins. So eating carnivore was only cutting out the grilled onions on my burger, side salad, etc. I was already very meat focused with my diet.

Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I started eating mostly carnivore about 2 years or so ago when my husband Craig was diagnosed with Lyme disease. He started doing carnivore to help with his Lyme pain and I joined him. I also noticed increases in energy and enjoyed it too.

How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

For me I am not as strict as Craig because I no longer have any health issues. I will occasionally eat a lettuce wrap on a burger when I go out to a restaurant. But that is why we made sure to address in our “The Carnivore Cookbook” how it is important to know our why. What is your “Why” for doing carnivore? If it is just general health or weight loss, then you don’t have to be as strict. If you are dealing with chronic disease like Craig with his Lyme, then you have to be more strict to keep symptoms down (in his case the chronic pain).

What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

I notice an increase in energy or really a more consistent energy. Also huge improvements in brain health like bipolar disease, depression and other issues.

What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

I have not seen any negatives with carnivore. And about the only ones I see with clients are due to transitioning. One is the dehydration issues when people don’t get enough electrolytes (like keto flu). Muscle aches, low energy, etc. Just upping electrolytes fixes it. The other is temporary digestive issues. Diarrhea is common in the first couple weeks. This is typically due to the body adjusting to eating more protein so we have clients add HCL and digestive enzymes and that typically helps until the body adjusts.

Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

Yes, I love to move my body. I love running, lifting weights, riding bike, swimming, hiking, riding my paddle board; and sometimes all in the same day! I have endless energy and never have issues staying active and working out when carnivore.

What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

First, identify what your “Why” is. Based on that determine your approach. If healing from chronic disease like Lyme, bipolar, MS, skin issues, etc. then we recommend doing the Carnivore Autoimmune Protocol (CAIP) defined in our Carnivore Cookbook. This acts as the ultimate elimination diet and can really help with healing for different conditions and identifying foods that can trigger symptoms. Then make sure to give it at least a month to really see the effects and how good you can feel.

Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

I hope so. Our ancestors primarily ate animal proteins while they evolved into humans. These early humans primarily ate large mammals like wooly mammoths. It is what our bodies are primarily designed to eat. A protein focused diet is what we as humans are designed to eat and it is the only way we get control of the rampant obesity and disease crisis we have today.

Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow you.

I encourage people to give carnivore a try. I make it easy with lots of tasty recipes. Plus if weight loss is the goal, carnivore makes it super easy. All you really have to do eat adjust the types of meat you eat from fattier to leaners to switch from weight loss to maintenance or gaining. We have charts sorted in protein to energy ratio in our Carnivore Cookbook that make this super easy. And almost no prep. Every recipes is really easy and almost all are 5 ingredients or less.
