Carnivore Diet success stories – with Kelly

Interview with Kelly

1) Introduce Yourself.

Hey guys! My name is Kelly and I am a Primal Health Coach from Pennsylvania. I also work in the medical field for a living. Watching the system fail patients and push medicine while changing my health with only food has created a passion to help others heal and feel their personal best! Given my own struggles along the way I’ve spent years researching and trying N+1 experiments. For me the lifestyle matters just as much as the food. I also have a herd of littles so I understand the complexity of bringing a new lifestyle to the whole family! I love to travel and do anything involving the outdoors!

2) How did you eat before Carnivore.

Before Carnivore I was eating pretty much a veggie dense Keto diet.  (Even though I started with a very heavily meat based Keto diet in 2013 that healed my Metabolic Disease.)

3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

My health was taking a bad turn. I started having severe bloating and constipation. Pain in my illeocecal valve area. I had gained about 15lbs. My face would get hives near my cycle, indicating a hormone imbalance. Food sensitivities seemed to increase. My immune system was surpressed. Neuropathy. I was just miserable. Meat was all I could tolerate to function and is honestly my favorite foods to eat so I just kept eating that way. I was also lucky enough to get some unusual labs back on an in-depth cholesterol panel to confirm part of the problem. I was considered a hyper-absorber. After research I figured so much out! I had previously done genetic testing and knew that I have no family genetic cholesterol issue. (It’s actually pretty rare, when it does exist it’s know to kill people between the ages of 30 to 50.)  I had these same labs drawn back in 2013 also and wasn’t an absorber then. What changed? My gut health and the copious amounts of veggies I ate. Turns out cholesterol markers like campesterol and sitosterol indicate hyper-absorbtion, which means veggie cholesterols were not being eliminated in my bowels but being absorbed where they don’t belong into my bloodstream!!! If something doesn’t belong in your blood stream your immune system kicks in. My gut had been destroyed and veggies were making it worse!

4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

I use a nose to tail approach. I include organ meats, mussels, salmon roe, and cod livers on the regular, in addition to my steaks, burgers/ground beef, pastured bacon and duck eggs. Dairy is very minimal and if I do I try to stick to raw goat’s milk versions of cheese, or cream. I really try to get a nice variety. I eat about twice a day. 10 and 2. I’m still drinking one cup or organic coffee in the am, with collagen and an egg yolk at times. Everything gets pink salt, but I also take some Electrolytes from LMNT because they help quench my thirst. I will say this is a lifestyle for me. I always get outside a few times daily for the benefits of the sun and grounding, I detox, try for optimal sleep and stay active. Unfortunately you can’t workout your way out of a bad diet, and you can’t eat healthy and expect it to make up for a bad lifestyle.

5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

Simplicity! Satisfying! Cheap!  Symptoms improving or gone! The boating and pain is gone, my bowel movements are regular. Hives have stopped occuring most of the time. The immune system is stable. I will say there was some underlying infections present that I found through doing some testing that I treated with antimicrobials. However, I wouldn’t have been able to function daily without carnivore during the healing. I think this is really important to share. Carnivore does wonders and I believe is the optimal diet coded for humans, however I still wasn’t 100% (high cholesterol for me, (250 was my norm, I was up to 450 and dense small particles), weight, nutrient deficiencies even eating the foods with them, ex zinc). If you are still struggling in some areas you should dig deeper. This is an important message I’d love to get out in our community. Because if you have a gut infection or mold/metal toxicity and your functional you may decide your life is liveable and miss the signs. Down the road you can have organs that get destroyed, auto-immune issues, or even heart disease. Not from meat but from ignoring symptoms. There is more than one way to get disease.

6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

Other than some negativity from those that don’t bother to listen with the intent to understand. Nothing. I’m eating my favorite foods and I feel amazing!

7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

Currently I do not do what I’d like to be.. It was too much of a stressor lifting weights on my immune system. My stress bucket was too full. So I walk. Which if you can’t do anything else walking is the best thing for you. I also do yoga. However now that I’m feeling better I will be adding weight training 3x week soon!

8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

Do it!!  Remember it’s ok to change over slow or at your own pace. Small changes still benefit you. It’s ok to make mistakes. Don’t beat yourself up. Remind yourself of your goals and what reaching them will feel like if it gets tough. Reach out to the tribe, I really find this whole community supportive, friendly and helpful. Also try new foods. You may be surprised what you like and how much variety there can be with this woe. Beef tongue is amazing. Looks terrible. Tastes like a moist fatty pot roast only no chunks of fat! I personally think Snake Juice or Electrolytes helps with transitioning too. I don’t worry about macros. I eat when hungry. Some do better with high fat, some lean, I naturally have days of each, do what makes you feel best. Simple is so satisfying.

9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

Hopefully!! I think the more we tell the world, and people get tired of feeling sick, they will get brave enough to try and they won’t be able to go back either!

10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow you.

I’m a great coach to help you dig deeper! I have amazing insight and personal experience with gut health, metabolic and auto-immune. Having support and a good mindset helps with your success. Anyone can tell you what to eat,  I’m here to share knowledge and support success, dig deep into health if need be, and help you relove-nutrition and life!

Side note, I’m currently enrolled with Metabolic Solutions to be able to interpret labs even better for my clients! I never stop learning.

Carnivore Diet success stories – with Miriam

Interview with Miriam

1) Introduce Yourself.

Hello! My name is Miriam Eriksson & I’m 35 years old. I was recently asked to describe myself… If you combined Steve Irwin, Ms. Frizzle, Marry Poppins, & a bit of wanderlust I feel that combination would accurately describe me!

2) How did you eat before Carnivore.

Before I tried the carnivore way of eating I ate SO HEALTHY… ( I hope you laughed) I only ate organic produce, Berky filtered water & more supplements than most grandmas. I was living off of Green smoothies & added tablespoons full of chlorella spirulina. I loved all of the Green superfood powders and overdosed on everything thinking it would help!

3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I struggled with severe DUB, (dysfunctional uterine bleeding), dry eyes, hives, sleep deprivation, severe memory loss, & nutrient depletion for three years. I had two severe gallbladder attack’s. My husband begged me to just try the carnivore way of eating for a few weeks to see if it would help. He had been listening to podcasts by @shawnbaker1976 @jordan.b.peterson @mikhailapeterson @biohacking.chick @paulsaladinomd

He had been eating only animal products for almost a year. I just couldn’t wrap my head around only eating meat. I grew a huge organic garden and thought all the superfoods were plant-based.

4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

Trying the carnivore way of eating was not done on a whim. I did a three-day bone broth fast to help my body reset. We have tinkered with what we like to put in or Bone Broth & found a yummy evening or morning concoction.

  • Bone Broth
  • 1 scoop @vitalproteins collagen
  • 1 t @realsaltketo season salt
  • 1 T Butter (or more)

I was also taking digestive enzymes so my body would be supported in the transition. I was only eating fresh cooked red meat for 7 weeks & then I started adding in other foods, eggs, cheese, & jerky. Now I’m probably about 90% meat-based. I have a 4-year-old who is a social eater & loves to make me things. I will always try what she gives me because she won’t be little forever!

5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

September of 2018 is when I started my Carnivore journey, I had 3 normal mensural cycles and no issues in between. My hormones reset and my body is healing. My body can produce tears again & although I still have flare-ups with hives they heal in just a few days not a month like they used to. I’m actually finishing my sentences & mentally much more clear! My gallbladder has been stable & I have so much more energy! This wasn’t really on my goal but I’ve lost 20lbs eating this way. Right now I’m 5’6 & 129lbs. When I started I was 149lbs.

6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

The only negative I really found from eating this way is it makes people so uncomfortable. I just don’t talk about it around family or in social settings. It’s best to let people ask you questions when they see you’ve been able to heal!

7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

I didn’t have the energy to exercise when I was basically bleeding to death! I would walk with my 4 year old & play outside. I haven’t been to the gym in 5 years. Now that I’m feeling better I’d love to put on some muscle!

8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

I’ve learned about so many people healing different health issues they have by using the carnivore way of eating. If you’re curious I would do a panty or fridge clean if the food isn’t there you are less likely to eat it. Only go shopping when you are full & bring your own snacks. Those damn marketing companies have spent billions on making unhealthy foods smell enticing & exciting! Then do a bone broth fast to reset your system. Go for it you’ll be surprised at how amazing you can feel!

9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

I don’t think carnivore will ever be accepted because there is not much money to be made from someone saying “Listen to your body, eat meat, fast, drink water!” Everyone wants to sell you something this is a personal choice where you are in charge of your growth & healing. Big Corporations don’t like people who are willing to self-experiment & not buy into all the hype of the latest quick fix!

10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow your journey.

If you would like to follow our health journey on Instagram we are @thebiohackingfamily

Carnivore Diet success stories – Jennie

Interview with Jennie

20181222_055819

1) Introduce Yourself.

My name is Jennie, I’m 41 years old. My husband, son and I live in Nevada. I manage a Veterinary Clinic. We enjoy spending time with our dogs, horses and riding our motorcycles.

2) How did you eat before Carnivore.

Before transitioning to a carnivore diet, I ate a ketogenic diet for 1.5 years. Before that, I ate low carb for 3 years.

3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I went to a carnivore diet when I developed food allergies and sensitivities. I experience face, mouth, and tongue swelling immediately, as well as itching skin and hives from head to toe. At first, I used the carnivore diet as an elimination diet. I tried adding different foods back in and realized my body is highly sensitive to non-meat foods.

4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

For my carnivore diet I eat mostly meat. I do have a couple of cups of plain black coffee in the morning before my workout. Breakfast is usually bone broth with pork loin. Lunch is usually chicken thigh meat or wings. Dinner is my most versatile meal, steak, shrimp, salmon, beef patties or ribs. My body can’t handle sauces or spices, so I usually cook my meat in bacon fat (from uncured bacon) or butter, and I add salt. About once a week I eat a serving of cheese or an egg as a treat.

5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

The benefits of eating a carnivore diet for me is an obvious one, I don’t have hives and itching. My digestion is perfect on an all meat diet.

6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

The biggest negative of carnivore for me is not eating spices, vegetables, and creamy textures. I’m very sensitive to all those ingredients, but I do miss eating them. We eat out a lot less because of my dietary needs, but we have 1 restaurant we can go to that I can eat plain meat and seafood at.

7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

I workout almost every day. I strength train three times a week, and cardio six days a week. I workout in a fasted state, eating my first meal about an hour after I workout. I feel great working out and have noticed it is easy for me to build more muscle on the carnivore diet. I have no problem with energy during my workouts that can last up to 2 hours.

8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

I think if you are going to give carnivore a try, eat a keto diet first and adjust to not eating any processed foods. Then give carnivore a try for at least 30 days and see what benefits it has for you.

9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

I don’t think carnivore will ever be a  mainstream way of eating again. There is so much money spent on marketing food products to the masses. When people start looking into what is healthier for their bodies and not listening to mainstream marketing more people will find their way.

10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow your journey.

For me, my body chose the carnivore diet. Simple as that. Eat meat, be healthy and comfortable. Eat plant-based food and be miserable. The choice was easy. My fitness journey and meal creations can be followed on Instagram @Tenacious_Tangles_Fitness
