World Carnivore Month 2021 – Arthritis – Day 11

Arthritis

What is it

It is some combination of pain and inflammation in one or more of your joints.

Osteoarthritis – More common the older you get, it affects the lining of the joint, which cause a whole host of issues in the joint.

Rheumatoid arthritis – is more of an autoimmune issue, where your immune system targets weak joints which leads to swelling and joint pain.

The numbers

Russia – 38% of mean and 17% of women have arthritis.

USA – 10% men and 13% of women over 60 get osteoarthritis in their knees.

UK – 400,000 people a year suffer from rheumatoid arthritis.

The cure

Both are classed as incurable and progressive by mainstream medicine. So all they can offer is drugs to lessen the inflammation, and reduce pain. Then when a joint gets really bad they will go surgeries like hip and knee replacements.

Carnivore Diet vs Arthritis

In a shocking turn of events I have found that arthritis is reversible and curable.

I know this personally. Between the ages of 15 and 25, I probably suffered 20 ankle strains in each ankle. This meant I developed mild arthritis and scar tissue, and every morning for over 10 years I had pain and stiffness in my ankles. I went Carnivore in October 2017, the ankle pain disappeared in 2 weeks, and has never returned.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Depression – Day 10

Depression

The numbers

Depression is awful, is debilitating in numerous ways, and it has a huge impact on other types of mental problems and actually increases the risk of physical diseases. Never mind the senseless loss of life it is linked too through suicide.

264 million people are said to sufferer from Depression each year. That is a terrible stat.

And I wonder how many of those 264 million are needlessly suffering from it because of their poor diet, that is loaded with sugar and vegetable seed oils.

I would not be surprised if over 90% of that 264 million could improve it with diet.

Nearly all my carnivore diet success stories report some form of mental boost when they go carnivore, whether it is some form of mental clarity improvement or they report they are more relaxed and chilled.

Carnivore Diet vs Depression

Without sounding like a twat… I am not a fan of the current climate of where some people say “oh I suffer from mental health problems”… but never say what.

“Mental Health Problems” isn’t a disease it is a blanket/umbrella term which I don’t think helps people for the most part, and may lessen the seriousness with how people think of people with actual acute and diagnosed mental health problems.

If they just don’t want to talk about their specific problems that’s fine and they should not have too, however, some of the time especially on Facebook etc it seems a bit more like a victim mentality rather than actual mental health issues.

I prefer people who are specific, and will say I have Depression or Bi-Polar. I find these types of people are more likely to do things to help their issues.

People who suffer from depression may also, have anxiety, insomnia, and OCD etc… and these people do truly have mental health problemS.

I am obviously talking in generalities here, it is just my opinion from what I see in mainstream and social media. So don’t get triggered.

There is no one reason everyone has depression, and it is a truly awful thing to have to deal with. If the carnivore diet does help with depression then it is likely to be because the carnivore diet helps with a range of general health that would make you more robust mentally and physically. For example: it will help you lose weight, sleep better, improves digestive health, improves lean muscle mass, balances your hormones, is nutrient dense, no antinutrients, is highly bioavailable, and provides all your essential amino acids, fats, vitamins, and minerals.

So you are just giving your body the best chance possible to be strong and healthy. This might be all that is needed to improve your depression. People know food affects the body aka you can manipulate it to lose or put on weight.

People now need to know that food has a huge impact on mental health too.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Ulcerative Colitis – Day 9

Ulcerative Colitis

What is ulcerative colitis

Its a nasty and painful disease that’s for sure.

It is an inflammation issue of the lining of the colon, which causes ulcers.

It is said to be chronic, progressive, and greatly increases your risk of colon cancer.

What are the symptoms

It is a bit like a roller-coaster, you can have spells in remission where issues are mild or non-existent. Then you have flare-ups where the issues get more intense.

There are a whole host of potential symptoms like chronic diarrhoea, stomach pain, always needing the toilet, joint pain, ulcers all over the body not just in the colon, bad skin, irregular heartbeat, blood in your faeces. UC can also lead to primary sclerosing cholangitis, developmental issues in children, and very high risk of bowel cancer.

How many people have it

Around 1% of the western world have UC. Which you might not think is much, but when you add in Crohn’s, IBS, Leaky Gut etc. There is a definite pattern showing there most be something seriously wrong in the Standard Western Diet if so many people are getting digestive diseases.

How to treat UC

Mainstream medical treatment uses an assortment of steroidal and immunosuppressants to try to keep the remission periods for as long as possible, whilst lessening the impact of the flares.

Then as this disease is said to be incurable, and as you spend many years on a cocktail of drugs… eventually there is a pretty high chance you are going to need some sort of surgical procedure eg the removal of parts of your colon.

If you need drugs and surgery obviously take them, but your goal should always to be to find ways to manage any disease without the need for drugs and surgery.

Why I think the Carnivore Diet helps

I am no doctor, and I don’t have UC… but if I did I would probably do 2 thing.

Eat only ruminant meat and do daily + extended fasts.

Why.

Meat – the digestive system can be simplified into 3 main blocks. The stomach. The small intestine. The large intestine. If UC is mainly a problem in the large intestine, then I would want to eat as much food as possible that digests in the stomach and small intestine. I would want my large intestine to do as little work as possible. Over 98% of beef digests before the large intestine, so that’s what I would focus on. I would definitely avoid sending fiber down my large intestine, as that is like sending a Brillo Pad down an already sensitive area.

Fasting – If I had UC I would want to limit the amount of work my digestive system was doing. I would want to eat some food, let it digest, then I would then like my digestive system to have a long period of time to rest and recover. If I had any digestive disease, I would not want to be sending food down my digestive system constantly. So I would incorporate intermittent and extended fasting.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Acid Reflux – Day 8

Acid Reflux

What is acid reflux

It is where your stomach acid gets into the oesophagus. The acid does what acid does, which irritates the lining of the throat.

The oesophageal sphincter should only let things pass one way, from your mouth to your stomach. If something causes it to relax when it shouldn’t or it is weak for some reason, then acid can get into the oesophagus and cause problems.

What are the symptoms

The symptoms can range from mild to chronic.

You may notice heartburn, pains in the chest, problems swallowing, regurgitating food or bile, coughing, asthma, and sleep issues.

These things are obviously unpleasant, but when they become chronic then you have even more problems like increased chance of throat cancer, throat ulcers, and narrowing of the oesophageal.

How to treat acid reflux

Unlike a lot of diseases and issues, diet is recognised to be a trigger of acid reflux where alcohol, fatty, and fried foods are claimed to be the triggers. Whilst I put the blame at other types of foods, at least the medical paternity admit food is an issue, which is rare.

Unfortunately the main focus surprise surprise is giving you drugs! Rather than wondering what is causing the reflux, they mainly just give you some drug to reduce your acid production, over time you will just be given stronger and stronger antacids to keep the acid at bay. Eventually surgery might be needed. This is the standard pattern of modern medicine.

Give you drugs to beat down the symptom’s, rather than tacking what is causing the symptom’s.

So because the person is just given drugs, they will rarely make the attempt to change their lifestyle and nutrition… so they are reliant on the drugs instead of dealing with the issue themselves.

Carnivore Diet success stories vs Acid Reflux

I got mild acid reflux in my 30’s, usually after a weekend out drinking with my mates and eating takeaways. I never had it again after going Keto and then Carnivore.

It is my belief that it is the standard western diet that is high in grains and vegetable seed oils, that is the problem. They lower your stomach acidity, this more alkaline state allow bacteria to grow, this produces gas and bubbling, and this bubbling helps the stomach acid to get past the sphincter. It may seem counterintuitive to some people but to prevent stomach acid problems you should eat more meat and less plant-based food, this strengthens the acidity of your stomach, the acids kills what it should, no bacteria, no excess gases, and no acid then gets into your throat. You actually need more and stronger stomach acid, not less if you want to heal.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Lyme Disease – Day 7

What is Lyme Disease

Lyme disease can be a really nasty disease. It is a bacterial infection, that can be passed on from ticks to humans. Damn you ticks!!! They are always spoiling a good walk.

What are the symptoms of Lyme Disease

They are wide ranging and can come and go. The most noticable is a large red circular rash around where you have been biten. This can appear months after you have actually been bitten which is annoying.

Other usual symptoms are fever like temperatures, headaches, migraines, fatigue, and muscle & joint pain.

How many people have Lyme Disease

Around 30000 people get sick from Lyme disease per year in USA, but because the symptoms can be very mild or put down to other things. It is estimated it is actually 10 times that figure.

I live in the UK, and Lyme Disease infected ticks can be a problem in the South and in the Highlands of Scotland. But it is not a huge problem where I live, there are ticks where I live as my dogs can confirm but it is unlikely they will spread Lyme Disease.

How do you treat Lyme Disease

Basically the quicker you can get treatment the better.

If you notice a tick on you, then remove it safely with a tick tool and dispose of it. Then seek medical advice, in which you will likely be given a course of antibiotics.

For most people if it is caught early this will cure it. However, some people suffere from Lyme Disease symptons for the rest of their lives. There is not a lot of information on why this may be the case.

I have yet to see any mainstream advice on if and when diet, could help or hinder your recovery from Lyme Disease.

Carnivore Diet vs Lyme Disease

I have a few carnivore diet success stories where people have said they have noticeably improved and reversed their persistent Lyme Disease symptoms with the Carnivore Diet.

Probably the biggest success story on this matter is Charlene Anderson, who along with her family have been eating only Ribeye steaks for over 20 years.

And far from being nutrient deficient wrecks, they look like Greek Gods and Goddesses.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – PCOS – Day 6

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

What is PCOS

It is some combination of irregular periods, excessive levels of androgen, and polycystic ovaries.

If those three things weren’t bed enough, it can be associated with things like hirsutism, weight gain, thin hair, bad skin, and it is harder to get pregnant.

Unfortunately it can also lead to insulin resistance, which we know is an underlying issue with Diabetes.

It is estimated that upwards of 10% of women of child baring age can have some level of PCOS.

How to treat PCOS

Yet another disease that mainstream medical healthcare deems incurable. So, all they offer is solutions to how the diesease presents itself.

If you want a child they will offer tertility treatment.

If you have excessive hair growth they will offer laser hair removal.

And so on.

Amazingly the NHS do recommend you eat a healthy balanced diet, to maintain a healthy weight. What they consider a healthy diet, differs to what I do obviously haha.

PCOS is another instance of a disease where people are told there isn’t much you can do about it, and you just have to take treatments which help with the side effects.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Psoriasis -Day 5

What is psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales. These patches normally appear on your elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but can appear anywhere on your body. Most people are only affected with small patches. In some cases, the patches can be itchy or sore.”

It can affect different people in different way, from just a mild occasional skin irritation to more server outbreaks and psoriatic arthritis.

How is is treated

It is allegedly a chronic disease with no cure, so main stream medicine concentrates on treatments to make outbreaks bearable rather than looking to reverse the disease. So treatment basically boils down to different steroid creams.

It is one of the many disease put down to autoimmune issues that nothing much can be done about.

This seems a bit of a cop out considering around 3% of the worlds population has Psoriasis.

I was surprised to read from NHS UK that psoriasis is incurable, and that there is no mention that Diet could be a contributing factor.

I have numerous success stories on my blog, where they claim that they have cured their psoriasis since going carnivore.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune response, and this is not the only autoimmune disease I have seen reversed by Carnivore.

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Ex Vegans – Day 4

Ex-Vegans

Veganism is the best diet on paper

Veganism sounds awesome on paper doesn’t it, it seems perfect. You can get fit and healthy, by getting loads of yummy and colourful fruit and veg, you do not cause the deaths of animals, and you have a better carbon footprint.

Unfortunately in the real world and if you dig a little deeper, the message of veganism falls apart.

It is arguably slightly better than the Standard Western Diet but pails in comparison when compared to Paleo, Keto and Carnivore.

It arguably kills more animals than omnivores and certainly kills more than carnivores do.

The environmental claims are dubious to say the best, shameless lying at worst.

It always amuses me that Veganuary is in January. I live in the North-East of England. There are no fruit and vegetables from the UK in my local supermarket at the moment, but there are cows in the field at the back of my house. So Veganuary actually promotes globalisation of the food supply where huge corporations have their dirty fingers in all the pies. I cannot have a consistent year round supply of seasonal local fruit and veg in my country, that meets all my nutritional needs.

I do agree there are issues with factory farming of animals, but that is because their are a stupid amount of humans to feed.

Real world vegans

There are vegans that can do veganism for all their lives and stay relatively healthy. However, this is not the norm. These people are outliers that are robust enough to handle it.

The vest majority of vegans suffer huge health issues and have to move on to other diets, whether they like it or not.

I am no vegan expert but I have noticed a couple of common patterns with vegans who become ex-vegans.

1/ Age declines… people can usually cope with veganism in their teens and 20’s, in their 30’s seemingly random health issues start to appear, so they tend to go stricter and stricter vegan because it is the “healthy option”, then in their 40’s and 50’s bad stuff starts happening.

2/ Health declines… they take it up and feel great for a year, then 1-3 years they notice energy and digestive issues, 4-5 years mental health issues increase along with more serious energy and digestive issues, then as the years increase so do the doctor trips for seemingly undiagnosable issues.

Carnivore to the rescue

If everyone just grew up on meat, potatoes and 2 veg like my grandparents did when they were young… that would probably mean 99% of the world would be in good health.

The problems is the food supply on the standard western diet is so poor it is causing so many issues that you have to go really strict with diets like Keto and Carnivore to avoid them. The vegan diet goes even further away from what I consider to be healthy, so when things breakdown they breakdown badly, so you do have to swing all the way the other way to carnivore to correct the damage done by veganism.

Carnivore vs Diabetes

What is Type 1 Diabetes

This is where blood sugar is too high, and your body produces none or very little insulin. So you are said to require daily Insulin jabs for life. It is thought to be a autoimmune issue, and it is the type children usually get.

What is Type 2 Diabetes

Again it is a blood glucose issue, but type two is easier to manage through diet, other drugs like metformin, and of course Insulin. The mainstream health system will tell you it is a progressive disease, but it isn’t… it is actually very easy to reverse.

Diabetes in numbers

415 million have diabetes in the world

4 million are from the UK

34 million are from the US

70,000 people in America have an amputation due to diabetes complications

It costs the NHS 10 billion £ a year

The economic cost to America is over $327 billion

Absolutely shocking figures considering , Type 2 Diabetes is basically an overindulgence of sugar disease.

How does carnivore diet help diabetes

The carnivore diet is a very low carb and nearly zero carb diet, and considering all carbs get converted to glucose. Then the carnivore diet is a low sugar diet, and therefore a low and insulin diet. Therefore it will prevent you from getting type 2 diabetes, and if you already have Type 2 then carnivore will help you reverse it.

Some people with vested interests (aka Vegans) will try to suggest red meat is a cause of diabetes… IT IS NOT!

Hook up a group of people up on continuous glucose meters and put them on a range of diet, and I bet the carnivore diet beats all of them apart from the therapeutic ketogenic diet.

What is anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of unease, worry, stress, and tension. It is actually a very natural fear response, and has kept us alive over the millions of years we have evolved for.

The problem is more and more people are feeling anxiety chronically, so it is always with them and it starts to effect every part of their lives.

When you suffer from anxiety chronically, it makes you much more like to suffer from other mental health issues like depression, bi-polar, and OCD.

Anxiety in numbers

1 in 13 people in the world suffer from anxiety

Over 18% of the USA population suffers from anxiety

Over 25% of children are affected by anxiety between the ages of 13 and 18.

8+ million cases of anxiety a year in the UK

Women twice as likely to have it than men, although I wonder if men just don’t report it as often.

35-59 is the most at risk age group

How does the carnivore diet health with anxiety

Ask anyone and they will agree that a poor diet will cause poor health or is the reason people become fat, yet not many people will agree with you if you state that a poor diet is just as bad for your brain as it is your waist circumference.

Why should your brain get off scott free if your body doesn’t.

On top of that your brain is over 60% saturated fat and cholesterol, so it isn’t a leap to think that the modern high carb and low fat diets could cause brain issues.

The carnivore diet is also very good at improving gut health, and balancing hormones. These are both proven to help with mood disorders.

On top of this I have noticed a lot of people claim they sleep better on a carnivore diet, so this could only be a positive for many health issues.

When I first started doing the Carnivore Diet Success Stories way back in 2018, I had a lot of pre-conceived notions about what they would be like.
