World Carnivore Month – Ex Vegetarians – Day 31

Ex Vegetarians

If you are not eating meat, at least eat eggs and dairy… it might be the only thing stopping you from looking like a bobbled headed lollipop with weird eyes that are both sunken and popping out at the same time like a lot of the long term vegans look like.

But alas you might well end up with a lot of the issues vegans get.

So just eat some damn meat please haha.

You might not have to go all the way to the darkside and become a carnivore… but you might have too if you have abused your body for too long.

Here are some ex vegatarian / carnivore diet success stories I have on my blog – https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/vegetarian/

Jacquie “The biggest thing for me is listening to my body and looking at Carnivore as a lifestyle not another ‘diet’. I mainly eat beef (lots of ground beef, NY strip) and just cheaper cuts of red meat. Most times I don’t tolerate dairy or eggs too well (which is so sad because cheese is SO good lol) but if it is at a party or if I am out etc. I may have some. I typically eat a higher protein to fat ratio and then will have higher fat days when I need them (where I’dd add bacon or crispy beef trimmings or ghee etc). I eat either once or twice a day and fast daily. Some days I can eat 3 or more lbs of meat other days I’m good with 1lb or may fast all day. I take beef liver capsules a couple times a week and salt my food. I am always so satisfied and satiated and what I crave is meat! My palette has completely changed.”

Kat “I chose to follow a nose-to-tail way of eating. My staples are any cut of beef (we invested in a local regeneratively raised 1/2 steer), either raw liver/raw kidney/heart, whole eggs or just raw egg yolks (we have our own chickens and access to local pasture raised eggs when needed), suet, and Redmond Real Salt. Occasionally I have raw Iberico Pork fat (from White Oak Pastures) or heritage pork (from our local farmer or White Oak Pastures) and salmon roe (we source it from Vital Choice). I also make broth weekly from the bones we have/leftover bones and chicken feet.”

Dale “I differ from others in that because I came from such a malnourished, underweight state I don’t do zero carb carnivore, although it’s what I definitely feel best on. I consume large amounts dairy and also eat honey. Now I’ve rebuilt my nutrient stores, reversed many negative health problems and got my vitality back I want to focus on weight gain. So milk, cheese, cream, yogurts and a little honey are great foods for achieving this. I eat nose to tail and mixture of raw, cooked and seared. Usually depends on my appetite and how good quality, tender or fresh the meat is.”

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Bloating – Day 30

Bloating

Here is some shocking news, our glorious NHS hasn’t blamed meat for something.

They actually point out that beans, onions, broccoli, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, and cauliflower should be avoided if you are suffering from bloating.

I expected them to say bloating is just bad luck, take these pills… like they do for most other diseases.

Apparently 10% of people suffer from bloating in the western world.

So 10% of people are eating stuff they shouldn’t basically.

A lot of people tend to ignore the impact of diet on disease, but they cannot ignore it with bloating…

And it is funny that it is well known that a lot of the foods that are classed as “healthy” are the big causes of bloating. So, are they healthy? I don’t think they are!

Here are some carnivore diet success stories regarding bloating – https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/bloating/

Angie “Digestion is great, The bloating is a thing of the past. I wake up with energy and feel rested everyday.  My hair and nails grow like crazy and my skin is showing signs of reversing the aging.”

Yuval “I’ve lost over 43Kg (about 95lbs) and I am at my lowest weight of my adult life. Also, I have a lot more energy, able to focus on my work and the things I love and I don’t think about food too often as I used to when I was a vegetarian or vegan. There is no bloat and hardly any gas on Carnivore, which is something I dealt with constantly as a vegetarian.”

Brian “The other thing I’ve noticed since giving up fiber in my diet, my guts are no longer chronically bloated.”

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Asthma – Day 29

Asthma

I think we all know what Asthma kind of is, and we have all seen inhalers, and generally know how they work.

And we kind of know things like allergies, smoking, and exercise can trigger it.

But what shocked me was how many people have it…

In the UK over 12% of the population have it, so you would expect similar figures in other westernised countries.

12% seems really high to me.

Now the NHS usually state most diseases are incurable and you just need to drug yourself to a semi-reasonable standard of life.

However, Asthma is one disease where I could understand that being said and it might just be something you have to live with.

But when you dig a little deeper, it is an inflammatory disease localised in the airways of the lungs and I have loads of success stories showcasing in reversal of other inflammatory diseases.

So why couldn’t carnivore help this inflammatory disease?

Check out the success stories I have on asthma here – https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/asthma/

Michaela “One by one, the need for each medication disappeared. The psoriasis plaques that were all over my body have cleared up and all the inflammation around my joints has disappeared. I don’t take inhalers, antihistamines or corticosteroids anymore and I naturally weaned off of escitalopram and clonazepam for depression and severe anxiety.”

Paul “Health! I have recovered from 30+ years of illnesses such as: asthma, allergy, eczema / psoriasis, and sleep apnea. I have been symptom free for 2 years! I am on my 3rd year now (2020). I took asthma medicine twice a day every day for 30+years, I now take no medication. I used to sleep with a cpap machine every night for about 10 years, that too is no longer needed. It’s just WOW. I have experienced the desired weight loss, I’ve gone from 98kg, 12% bodyfat, to 85kg, 6,5% bodyfat. This has been easy to maintain, which is important.”

Dwayne “So many!  I had really bad eczema all my life, right from birth, and for the first time in my life I have no trace of eczema on my body.  I had chronic acid reflux, that is gone, I was on puffers regularly for my asthma, and I haven’t had to used them in a year now.  I had several kidney stones prior to going carnivore, some even had to be surgically removed and I have not had any since.  Mood is much improved, calmer and do not get agitated easily.  Much higher tolerance to the sun, I can be in the sun all day without getting a sunburn.  My eyes turned blue, that’s an interesting one!”

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Anaemia – Day 28

Anaemia

Anaemia is another name for Iron Deficiency, it is often caused by blood loss and pregnancy… but I see it a lot with people who have poor diets namely veganism haha.

I am not even joking it seems quite prevalent within the vegan community no matter how much kale they eat!

It can lead to a lot of things like; fatigue, heart palpitations, pale skin, digestion issues, sickness and black poop.

Laughably the NHS say eating leafy green vegetables will help your symptoms, they also rather stupidly recommend you eat cereals and bread because they are fortified, but then say avoid wholegrain cereals because they inhibit iron absorption due to the antinutrient phytic acid.

Maybe just eat meat instead eh and avoid everything else.

Around 10 million people are iron deficient in USA, so it is not an insignicicant problem.

I have a few carnivore diet success stories showing improvements with their anaemia issues, find them here – https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/anemia/

Vesna “I had anaemia, slight osteoporosis (at the age of 18 I had the bones of a 40 y.o.), severe vitamin D, B12 and S-feritine (iron storage) deficiencies to the point my doctor said ”no wonder you have chronic pain, I’m honestly surprised you can sit up.”

Crystal “My anemia is the biggest thing. Being able to control it with animal organs and herbs is amazing. So amazing. I can breathe when I take a liver supplement. My acne is better. My strength and endurance are better. My mood is better.”

Alain “I went back to eating plant based, and tried juice fasting, which is supposed to be the magical cure for everything. Nothing really helped and i ended up with digestive issues, anemia, vitiligo, skin issues, insomnia, hairloss, poor sweating ability and oedema.”

World Carnivore Month 2021 – Amenorrhea – Day 27

Amenorrhea

I don’t want to say too much about amenorrhea because.. well that would be a pretty bad case of mansplaining haha.

What I will say is that, if you suffer from amenorrhea or know someone who does then carnivore may help… and I have a few stories that can back that up.

Check them out here – https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/amenorrhea/

Isabella “I got my period back, healed cystic acne, lost 25 lb, and cured my depression and chronic fatigue.”

Sarah “My period has returned – from 8 years without one. It is crazy how many benefits I’ve had, in fact I could go on and on with this one! But you get the idea.”

World Carnivore Month – Allergies – Day 26

Allergies

Allergies are definitely real, I will not sit here and type that they don’t exist… as I know they do. A peanut allergy can kill you.

However, I do also have a suspicion that most allergies are just a sign that you are metabolically broken. In 2020 we have seen the world brought to its knees by a virus, that I would guess would be less of a problem if more people were metabolically healthy.

Do people get hayfever… yes!

Would they still have it if they stopped eating cornflakes at breakfast… maybe not!

If more people ate a species appropriate diet, then I do not believe allergies would be as prevalent as they are.

Allergies are basically a immune system response gone wrong and can lead to things like rashes, dermatitis, hives, and swollen eyes.

I myself used to suffer a lot from dark circles under my eyes, which I think was some sort of allergy. I also had some sort of allergy/heath issue when I was at Uni but looking back at it, it probably only manifested because I was studying, partying, and working in a pub through my Uni years. So I was probably run down, and stressed, which allowed things to manifest.

I have no such issues anymore, and I rarely have dark circles under my eyes now.

What I am saying is allergies can be awful, but maybe the way to treat them isn’t to focus on that potential allergen…

Maybe the way to treat it is to improve your general and metabolic health. So that your body is in a better place, and then it could maybe deal with that allergen itself.

I have a few carnivore diet success stories regarding allergies here –

Chris “I’ve lost 116 pounds so the freedom that brings is immeasurable. I cured my type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, allergies and sleep apnoea.  I was on lots of medications and now I take none.  Improved energy and mental focus. I require less sleep.”

Desiree “I have seen COUNTLESS benefits! Increased energy, hair is no longer going grey, allergy symptoms and swelling in my lymph nodes gone, no more tachycardia episodes, vertigo gone, arthritic pain/carpal tunnel symptoms have disappeared, no weak and achy teeth and my skin has a natural glow! The most vain benefit of all, I have abs! I didn’t even know I could have such defined muscles.”

Natalie “Hypothyroidism (medicated for 14 years), non alcoholic fatty liver, scalp eczema, rashes, itchiness, allergies, insomnia, joint pain, amenorrhea, bloating, acid reflux, constipation, nutrient deficiencies, hair loss, water retention, restless leg syndrome, extreme teeth sensitivity and receding gums, very low energy and vitality, lack of memory and concentration, lack of physical strength, inability to deal with stress, foggy mind, often depressed. All these conditions left my body and became the past!”

World Carnivore Month – ADHD – Day 25

ADHD

I have already listed many people who have stated improvements in a range of mental health issues like Anxiety, Depression, and Brain fog.

The carnivore diet seems to help reverse physical disease, and also seems to be an important preventative measure…

But what cannot be ignored either is the mental improvements people report.

The mental side actually seems to improve quicker than the physical improvements.

And ADHD and ADD seem to be improved pretty quickly on carnivore.

Maybe it is a hormone thing, maybe your brain isn’t jacked up on sugar, maybe both.

What I do know is I would research every single thing I could do to help my condition before I took some very serious mind altering drugs such as methyphenidate, dexamfetamine, and guanfacine.

It always shocks me how easy people just accept pharmaceutical drugs like they are just vitamin pills or something. All these drugs are meant to impact your body in various ways, and that logically cant be good because if it is stopping something in the body you know your body is going to over or under compensate somewhere else.

Its a dangerous game, especially with mood changing drugs… in my opinion.

Check out my canrivore success stories on ADHD and ADD below:

Ruibo “I have celiac and had been gluten free for about a decade. Apart from that, I’d tried about every way of eating and supplementation out there in an attempt to hack my way to relief from lifelong depression, anxiety, and ADHD. From paleo to primal to plant-based and raw vegan, even a brief stupid stint as a fruitarian, I seriously tried it all. Right before I went full carnivore, I had been experimenting again with vegan/plant based, to my detriment.”

Katja “I lived with bipolar depression and anxiety starting at 12 years old. My symptoms got classed as severe and I kept developing additional degradation of my brain and body. I started getting ADHD as a young adult, developed Aspergers, my doctors thought I gone mad and did nothing to even get me a proper diagnosis.”

Megan “As I learned more and as I got more in tune with my food triggers and I found that keto was amazing for my ADHD and my other nagging ailments. I was learning so much about primal, paleo, keto it was amazing. I felt like with each podcast or book I read I would both understand more, yet have 100 more questions. I love getting lost in the rabbit holes.”

World Carnivore Month – Ehlers Danlos Syndrome – Day 24

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

EDS sounds awful, it is said to be an inherited disease that effects connective tissue.

There are said to be 13 types, but basically, you are looking at issues with hypermobility, dislocations, joint pain, fatigue, and bruising. Not pleasant at all.

The NHS state there is no cure, you just have to manage the situation and make the best of it with physiotherapy, support, counselling, and regular medicals.

I don’t know much about EDS, so I don’t want to waffle on too much about it.

But I do have one carnivore diet success story regarding EDS, from Dawn which is an absolute doozy and is very inspirational. I would encourage everyone to read it.

Dawn “The most obvious benefit is that I haven’t used crutches since April (which was only a month into my carnivore experiment) and have used them fairly consistently since I was 13. I’ve certainly never gotten into November without relying on them to get around! My pain levels are much less on a day-to-day basis and I’ve stopped taking the gabapentin tablets that I’d take every 4 hours earlier this year.  I’ve also stopped taking anti-inflammatory medication and tolterodine, which I used to need to regulate my bladder, but no longer do! I dislocate less often (Once a week instead of every day) and have lots of hope for the future after starting to walk (and even run!) more regularly.  I’ve set myself a goal for fitness and enrolled in the Great North Swim for summer of 2020, when I’ll swim 2 miles outdoors.  That was a big deal.  Committing to future activity has never been a good idea for me, but I’m confident that my health gains will last and that I’ll continue to be able to swim. My gut health is better and I have lost 5.5 stones in weight since March, taking me from a British size 18 to a small 12 (A US 22 to an 8). My anxiety still catches me unawares sometimes, but attacks don’t last anywhere near as long and I no longer have a background level of anxiety which is looming all of the time.  I’m calmer and don’t feel that I’m running on adrenaline.”

If anyone knows anyone else that has helped their EDS on Carnivore, please put them in touch with me. Cheers.

I will be releasing a “Meat Up” follow up post with Dawn in February… spoiler she is doing great.

World Carnivore Month – Migraines – Day 23

Migraines

Honestly, I have never had a migraine so I have no clue how bad they are… and whenever people take a sick day from work with one I just presume they are faking it for a day off.

Which I bet is true for a lot of occasions, but for people who do legit get migraines I defo feel sorry for you.

They sound absolutely brutal.

Most of my headaches are booze related and they are bad enough haha.

Not only are migraines annoying, they can be dangerous… if one manifests when you are driving home for example. And they can be associated with things like strokes and meningitis.

Migraines are another one of the seemingly random ailments people can get. Where it is just one of those things, and you are just unlucky.

Something I would have accepted a few years ago, but now I believe nearly all diseases and ailments are your fault.

Sounds harsh doesn’t it.

The modern day standard western diet, and a far more sedentary life and work style is a perfect breeding ground for “random” diseases.

The problem is it is all very muddy and it is hard to know when and where things started to go wrong and why.

But what happens when your laptop is buggered?

You hit the factory reset.

And I think that is what the carnivore diet is to a lot of people, it is the fastest and easiest way to default to true human health.

Which is why people who have had ailments like regular migraines never get them again, unless they forget how bad migraines were, so their diet slips back to the old ways…

And the migraines return!

Here are some of the migraine carnivore diet success stories on my blog – https://ketogenicendurance.com/tag/migraines/

Christine “From the first week I was less tired and had less joint pain. A big relief because pain everyday, starts to make you so damn tired. My migraines never came back and after stopping eating greens and vegetables my intestinal pains were gone as well. Both things I had from birth. I had a lot of issues because of lyme disease and was nearly at a point I couldn’t walk anymore. I couldn’t lift things and even brushing my teeth became painful. In a few weeks after I started carnivore I felt better and after a couple of months I got even more energy back. I had no trouble sleeping, no joint pains, no migraines and no eczema.”

Sonja “Some days I couldn’t get out of bed because my body hurt so badly. So…at 51 I was suffering from chronic fatigue, chronic joint pain, migraines, insomnia, inflammation, bloating and gas after every meal, and severe hair loss! I started to realize it was not just old age. I was getting sicker by the day. I have completely healed all of my symptoms. Although admittedly, when I indulge in dessert, my stomach gets very upset with me!”

Michele “I have lost over 30 pounds.  My skin has cleared up.  My anxiety and depression have diminished significantly.  I have more control over my cravings especially since giving up artificial sweeteners.  I am more in tune with my hunger and satiety signals.  I am losing fat in stubborn areas.  My outlook on life in general has improved.  My energy has increased dramatically.  Fewer migraines.  Inflammation has decreased.”

World Carnivore Month – Brain Fog – Day 22

Brain Fog

Nearly all people report to me some form of mental health boost.

Anxiety and Depression reversal are the big noticable wins that people can quantify better.

But something that is harder to quantify is people say they notice a better mental clarity, by which they usually mean they were suffering from some form of brain fog.

Which they might never have even realised they had, but they sure realise when if it comes back later after a cheat day.

When you tell someone about the carnivore diet, a lot will have no clue what it is, some will say its dangerous, some will dismiss it and say oh you can lose weight on all diets… all you are doing it restricting calories.

What these people don’t know and usually don’t care to find out, is the whole range of benefits eating a species appropriate diet brings.

And yes your brain can work better, is it any shock that if you eat food that has everything you need, and nothing it doesn’t… that you might improve your brain health? It’s not surprising to me.

If you are interested in all the stories people have shared on my blog regarding mental clarity and mood, then please see them here –

Cassie “Another favourite thing that’s happened since going carnivore is that my mood is so much more stable.  I don’t get worked up over anything anymore. I’m able to look at a situation and evaluate my options rather than lashing out.”

Robyn “I can now focus on work tasks more intently for long periods of time w/out distraction.  Before, when eating a carb heavy diet, my blood sugar would do roller coasters throughout the day and I would become hypoglycemic, shaky and anxious (would need to eat every 3 hours).  My blood sugar now stays constant throughout the entire day.   I have also experienced mental benefits in that I now get these ideas in my head that I can do/accomplish almost anything I want to – – if I decide I want it.  I think this may be attributed to an increase in testosterone (increased confidence & reduced anxiety).”

Jayvee “Mental clarity. You know when they say that your brain is lit? I felt that. Carnivore with fasting made me dig deeper to self awareness.”
