1) Introduce Yourself.

Hi. My name is River. I am a mother of 2 beautiful girls, & have a wonderful husband. We love to travel and explore the earth together.

2) How did you eat before Carnivore.

I grew up eating a standard American diet… I became a vegetarian by age 20 and full-blow vegan by 21. I spent 5 years trying to dial in the perfect vegan dietary approach… only to find myself totally malnourished, skinny, anxious and depressed. I tried junk food vegan, whole food purist vegan, high fat, low fat, high carb, mucas-less, vegan paleo, vegan keto, raw vegan, fruitarian, has an interest breatharian… I sought to continue improving and tweaking the vegan diet to one that made me feel the best. Every time I tweaked it I thought “This is it! I feel great now!” But the feeling didn’t last… and I had to keep searching and searching… until I realised I was searching in all the wrong places….

3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I started incorporating meat back into my diet, and I immediately felt better! I quickly realized that veggies made my bloat and wanted nothing to do with them! I loved the way I felt eating animal products and wanted to explore what a 100% animal products diet would do for my health.

4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

I’ve played around with this too… in the beginning, if it was an animal product, I ate it. Meat and organs from any animal raw or cooked, cheese raw or pasteurised, honey, raw milk, cream, sour cream, butter, eggs…

I had so much variety, I was never bored and everything was amazing! After a few months I started to notice how certain animal foods made me feel better than others.

I started cutting out things one by one until I ended up with only beef left. I stayed on Beef only for a month or two and I felt pretty good, but the difference wasn’t major. Currently, I eat nose to tail beef, and occasionally eat eggs, raw cheese, pork, small amounts of raw cream, small amounts of raw honey, and Tallow. I don’t really thing there is a right way or a wrong way to approach this… really it’s just what works for you and what you like!

5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

The moment I ate meat I felt my anxiety lift away. Depression gone within days… those were the two most noticeable effects that were pretty immediate. I’ve noticed I have increased mental clarity and memory retention. My emotions are stable, I don’t anger or get upset easily… I’m never sad for no reason. I have a sense of calm I have never had before going carnivore. I have regained muscle mass, and have sustainable energy. As a vegan I was always battling fatigue. My hair doesn’t break or split at the ends anymore. My fingernails are strong and sharp… they used to be so brittle and I was so anxious I’d always pick them off to be so short. My skin has cleared up, and I actually tan in the sun instead of burn. I don’t have bags under my eyes anymore. My lips are never chapped… I’ve gained a healthy amount of weight back. My digestion is actually functioning properly. I don’t ever have gas or bloating. I’ve seen my children flourish with healthy animal foods in their diet too! That has probably been the best benefit! The shift in my mentality has been huge… Second best benefit!

6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

Family and friends generally don’t understand and are not supportive or think I’m nuts… but I don’t care. I feel amazing and that’s all that matters.

7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

I love being active and now that I actually have the energy to push myself… I have been taking full advantage of it! I love hiking, biking, swimming… I walk everyday. And go to the gym at least 4-5 times/week. I love CrossFit and weight training. And I practice yoga too. My energy increase has changed the way I workout and I feel so much stronger than I’ve felt. I really excited to see how I progress as time goes on!

8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

If you’re interested, just go for it! Set a goal and reach for it. Give it at least 30 days and the first week or 2 you might feel like crap as your body adjusts… don’t give up! Push through and see what this diet really has to offer. It’s seriously up-leveled my life…. if you’re into the idea.. you’ve gotta try it! Drink spring water and add pink salt! And don’t forget magnesium oil for your feet!!! (If you don’t know what I’m talking about… look it up… EVERYBODY needs magnesium.)

9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

No way. Hahaha! I know plenty of people have tried it and will try and will love it! And that’s all that matters!

10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow your journey.
