Interview with Michael

1) Introduce Yourself.

I’m Michael 21 years old (as of May 2019) and I love going into nature barefoot, swimming in the ocean and working out in the gym. I am currently in college studying film.

2) How did you eat before Carnivore.

Since I was born I’ve always eaten grass fed animal products, carbs and vegetables. Then at 20 years old, being brainwashed by documentaries and YouTubers I went vegan for 6 months and quickly deteriorated. I lost all of my muscle, dropped over 30lbs and felt (and looked!) awful. I thought my acne would stop, but it only got worse. I finally came to my senses and have now switched to the carnivore diet.

3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.

I was standing in my bathroom staring at myself in the mirror and I noticed for the first time how skinny I suddenly was. I was pale, my hair looked grey and my eyes looked very peculiar, as if they had sunken in. At that moment I knew it was time to change. I had heard about the carnivore diet before and was sceptical, however at this point I was willing to do anything.

4) How do you personally approach the Carnivore Diet.

I start my day with 6 pastured eggs – lots of cholesterol and full of nutrients! Then throughout the day I will eat rare grass fed beef, lamb, skipjack tuna, wild Alaskan sockeye salmon and lots of raw butter! I do think I need to eat more organ meats; however I’m feeling so great at the moment I haven’t felt the need to! I rarely eat chicken and pork if at all, and will occasionally have a glass of raw milk. I have anywhere from 2-5lbs of meat per day.

5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet.

I have gained muscle at an incredible rate, all joint pain has disappeared, my skin has finally cleared up and I no longer get acne! My hair seems to have gotten thicker, skin is glowing and probably the biggest thing being my anxiety has diminished and my confidence levels have suddenly shot through the roof. I feel like I’m superman sometimes!

6) What negatives have you found with the Carnivore Diet.

It can be expensive when eating out, and if I ever have a cheat meal like some cake, I feel like crap!. But apart from that I haven’t experienced anything negative from the carnivore diet.

7) Do you exercise on the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what do you do.

Of course! I go to the gym 5-6 days a week, with 4 days weight lifting, and the other 1-2 days focusing on abs and HIIT (high intensity interval training). I have no joint pain during training, and am able to push myself harder than ever before. Sometimes I feel like I’m cheating on this diet!

8) What piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t taken the leap yet.

Try it for 2 weeks. You have nothing to lose. Eat only grass fed beef and lamb for a few days then start incorporating other foods like eggs and raw butter and taking note of how you feel. Some have dairy intolerances so take it slow and listen to your body. You may feel the need to nap but remember naps are natural. Just look to nature and you see the entire animal kingdom taking naps throughout the day, so don’t blame the lack of carbs!

9) Do you think Carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.

Of course not. The government doesn’t want us to be healthy so they’ll do everything they can to stop it from being mainstream. Also some just enjoy chocolate and cake too much!

10) Anything you would like to add, and where can people follow your journey

Don’t put yourself down if you try the carnivore diet and can’t stick to it 100%. It took me 2 months to cut out cheat meals completely. Make sure to listen to your body, you will get better at it overtime and will be able to notice small mood changes and patterns with what you eat. I feel I have found my golden food circle.
