Barefoot and Butter: Running on Keto – 25th Feb to 3rd Mar 2017

I started out my week at the Coastal Trail Series Northumberland event. I did the 10k, they also offered a half, full and ultra-marathon. I have reviewed this race on a previous post, but suffice to say it was a nice event and I would definitely go again. They are holding it again next year, so I might do the Marathon then.


The 10k was mainly run on sand, so it was quite tough. It was about half a mile longer than a 10k, so I was happy with the time. I felt like my Vibram Fivefingers Spyridon, handled the terrain really well. I also wore Skins DNAmic Thermal tights. These were a god send as it was a bit wild on the day. Not overly cold, but 40mpg gusts of wind didn’t make the run any easier.


I took a full rest day on Sunday, and did a bit of Yoga on Monday to help recovery.

Then I did a couple of my normal mid-week runs, which I was pleased with the times. However on the Thursday run, I felt a bit of a niggle on my right calf. So I will have to make a call on that, because Saturday morning I was planning on doing a run of around 14 miles.

Overall I had a good running week, however I was slack on my strength work. For example I did none!!! So next week I will be making a concerted effort to do more Calisthenics.
