“You don’t stop running because you get old, you get old because you stop running.”
Christopher McDougall, Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

Yes yes yes !!! I have run a marathon. Well by ran, I mostly mean walked. Oh and by marathon, I mean over the course of a week not in one go!!! It kind of counts though doesn’t it?

I set out this week to log 26.2 Strava miles, anyway I could. As I am developing my Barefoot Running Technique gradually, I knew it would be mainly made up of walking. That’s cool though as I like walking, good for the soul and all that. Anyway I walked 23.35 miles, and ran 6.31 miles over the week for a total of 29.66 miles. Running Hero’s UK website https://www.runningheroes.com is to blame for my mileage target. One of the challenges this week was to log 26.2 miles, and if you do you get entered into a prize draw for free entry into the Paris Marathon. So any excuse to go to Paris really.

The Running Hero’s challenge actually runs from Monday to Sunday, whereas my diary runs Saturday to Friday. So I still need to run 3 miles on Saturday to reach the target. So I will do the Sedgefield Parkrun tomorrow.

I think I am going to stick to the 26.2 mile weekly challenge going forward. Slowly building up the percentage that is made up of running. Then eventually when it is 100% running, I can then increase the mileage further.

I am really pleased with how things have gone this week, however due to the amount of time spent running and walking. I have not have time to do any Strength or Flexibility work. However as I run more, the less time it will all take. So I will be able to bring some Strength and Flexibility work back into the programme.
